This is my first attempt at oil painting. I started with strictly black and white but then added color to the apple for fun. I love oil.

Per Sempre

You gave me your Peace,
I gave you my Innocence,
Never to Forget.

This piece was painted for the Upstate Artists Guild show titled Buried City. For this piece I reached back to my experience in Italy and made the setting a Roman bath house. I dedicate this piece to the death of my era in Italy.

The two figures are inspired by the remains of people found in Pompei after Vesuvius' eruption in 79 AD. The ruins of the bath house are crumbling, but there was once a life that was so rich and vibrant in this underground cavern. The Hercules Knot on the far left symbolizes an ever-lasting love, despite the silence and stillness of passing time. I wanted to illustrate a moment in time that will soon be gone, but will always survive in memory.

Fate Embraced

This is a painting I did for the 1Pixel Art project at work (which is our own version of Into the Pixel for which artists create works inspired by video games). It was exhibited at The Art Center of the Capital Region during the Hudson Quadricentennial Celebration.

This particular piece was inspired by the game Ben 10 - Alien Force DS which we created at 1st Playable Productions. It depicts Gwen, Ben's cousin, who has alien powers because she is part alien. In one episode she is confronted by her grandmother, who is full alien, who asks her to renounce her humanity to reach her full potential of power. In the episode she decides to keep her humanity. In this piece Gwen has renounced her humanity and sits on the evil alien eye - full of immense power but totally alone.

Elemental Birdhouse

This project was a part of the Arts in Education Charity for the Arts silent auction. The theme to follow was "elemental," which touched upon a personal chord in me.

A theme I like to incorporate into many of my works is Opposition and Unity. On the roof are the two sides of the day - night and day.


The entryway to the birdhouse is encapsulated by an egg to represent birth of life. The purifying wave holding up the egg bleeds over to the first side of the birdhouse. This wave (water) is washing away fire (destruction).






The fire connects to the back of the birdhouse to create the hair of Mother Earth, who is lying on her side and holding up a flower that represents fertility.








Moving on to the third side is the silhouette of Earth's body lying in an ocean of water. A dragonfly is flying by, representing fleeting life.











Earth's body connects to the front of the birdhouse as wind ties all four sides of the birdhouse together.
